NEARING DEATH

The last star I see - I miss my wish
Hopefully the sunset really misses me
I loved my meditation with the morning rise
God inspired me with those beautiful radiant skies
I too loved those precious chirps at dawn
How I wish I could turn the page each day
With memories lingering beautifully today
Each day I wake I treasure quality time
I ponder at the thoughts of love
It passed me by! Although I think
The more I tried - the more my heart bled
The final days - with God I spend
Can I see his loving hand - footprints in the sand
God you took my life years ago - Why?
Did I walk the paths of a dreary rut?
Now as I write the reflections from my soul
Does my mind wander? Do I tell?
My inner thoughts - deep inside I scream
What the hell does all this really mean?
My roses - they never bloom - petals they rot
I wanted beauty in my life - and breath
'I worked hard God - between me and you
As a poet - Ben Burroughs I believed in
Work hard - and build a living dream
Where art thou? Why art thou?
Where is the true grit meaning of life
It passed me by - day by day it failed
Where is the meaning of values of success?
My feelings I must suppress
My endangered species - May God bless
I walk - I talk ! No one listens
I am walked all over - kicked around
Peace - yet never found - I cry
The sky falls in my eyes - a doom
Yet it is another day I 'll try....

Ben Burroughs is a poet I loved in Syracuse NY  that wrote some beautiful inspiration in the newspaper  locally there
