Dreampt I'm a Poet

I was in REM - and saw mental images
Holding a pen- and thus I stroke
The inkblots in my face- I wrote the words
In my brain  - I created a dactyl
My thoughts and writers block did provoke
I captured music - I saw the light
Challenging the words , I worked til twilight
Mesmerized by the lyrics - I contemplate
I surmised - and created memory
I saw visions - the words thus imagery
A tinge  - harder in my life the light verse
I used metric - mathematically inclined
I wrote the words - and thus they rhymed
Dawn broke- I woke ! I eat live and breathe
Thus a poem I did then again achieve
Thoughts of you, I recollect, I state
I memorized the words they did permeate
Awake I recite in split seconds I write it down
Voila! I created in my sleep a poem
And thus in theory I am known
In the very deep of my sleep I see
My job really does get the best of me
I am me - a poet - in reality
Thus in REM - the imagery I portray
Is vivid of imagination, still in my day.
